What is Disability Ministry?
We believe that every human is made in the image of God. Every member of your family is important to us. We want to ensure that all of you can hear the Gospel in a way that you can understand and have the opportunity to respond to it.
Our Activities Include
-
A buddy is a one-on-one support person that attends all regular programming with the child to provide support and help meet the child’s needs. If you think your child needs a buddy, please indicate that in the form below or contact Kara at the church.
-
Our Awe and Wonder class offers a curriculum specifically designed for individuals with cognitive disabilities. The curriculum is full of visual aids and has three different levels of difficulty. You can find samples of the curriculum at https://www.specialneedsministryresources.com/ This class is currently limited to children and students. This class meets at 9:00.
-
Students and children participate with their peers on Wednesday nights. We offer one-on-one buddies, fidgets, flexible seating, and other accommodations to ensure that the child or student can be successful in an environment with their peers.
-
Our children’s building has a sensory room that is available for any student who needs to take a break from the classroom and get their sensory needs met. The child stays in the room for a short time until they are able to return to their classroom.

Council Road takes children and students to Camp Perfect Wings every summer. Perfect Wings is always held the Thursday-Saturday before Memorial Day. This camp is for individuals with disabilities from third grade through senior adulthood. Each camper is partnered with a buddy. Buddies are never assigned to more than 3 campers.
